i would have to say i would be impressed with any title i dont have...seeing as that would meant that the person with that title has done something that i have not. so i think any title i dont have earns my respect.

Tyrian/Canthan Grandmaster Cartographer, Protector of Tyria, Drunkard Master, or Elite Skill Hunter. They illustrate to me someone who can play with henchies and with other players.

Try to get Aurora Glade/Dunes of Despair/Thunderhead Keep fully mapped with just Henchies. And skill capping all elites - means you can play through the hardest areas with any secondary. I respect that even if they don't use any secondary skills. Going through some of those areas with 1 or 2 signets of capture instead of skills show some player skill and understanding of the character builds.

I don't really care about any of the PvP titles.

The protector titles will likely get you a place in a PUG with me.

I respect people with titles in both PVP and PVE fields. Some only play pvp and they only have 1 pve character, although they have high rank but they are just a pve noob. Some people only play pve and never go HOH so they don't even konw what other professions skills do and think 10/10 AP kicked ass.

I respect people who are comprehensive, having titles of highest level of drunkard (Show the richness achieved by pve), illustrious hero(show the experience in pvp), GM cartographer (show the running skills in pve and knowledge of every mission bonus).

I don't respect the elite skills title, becasue you really don't need all the elite skills on a single character, the title only shows people that you are wasting time for pointless goals.

My account will have Friend of Kurzick by mid summer, but my monk won't get Skill Hunter, until chapter 3. There weren't enough Faction elites to top her off (I think she's about 75), after unlocking a few with faction in the FPEs. :\

I wouldn't really rely on "Friend of X" titles showing experience or anything because they're just farming alliance faction like Iway farms rank. >.>

I don't put much stock in titles, sorry to say. If I were to discriminate, I'd just choose people with Tyrian armor. But, I don't discriminate. If a mission calls for 1 more necro and I've got to choose between a no title necro and a Just-Shy-of-Godly Elementalist, I'll take the necro.

Why? Because my first character, created way back on the Prophecies headstart day, is a monk who has been everywhere and done everything. After all that grinding, I had a good idea of where I wanted my next three toons to go, so they have all the basic areas and skills I need unlocked. Only the monk toon has titles. I'm a far better ranger or mesmer than a monk, but according to the logic I see here, only the monk would get any respect.

If I wanted a title for grinding, with nothing to show for it but a few words under my name, I'd just play Tetris. It's freeware now.

Protector of Tyria or Cantha.

It shows that you have a lot of pve experience and can work with groups. Some of the bonusses (like Dunes of Despair) are quite hard to get.

Master Cartographer

aswell. It means you did not rush through the game but took your time to explore every little corner of the map.

Skill hunter

Same as above. You took your time to collect them all.

Titles that mean little to me are rank titles, which only show you farm pvp a lot, probably with iway builds. Drunkard title, which takes no skill at all, just a lot of free time and money.

And Drunkard and Cartographer show what again? Most titles are for pointless goals. At least with Skill Hunter you're getting something semiuseful.

In order of my valuing in PvE (at max possible levels):

Protector - Means you have basic encompasing knowledge of PvE
Cartographer - Exploration means good knowledge of mobs in areas, and also good deal of time spent.
Skill Hunter - Means you have extensive knowledge of all skills, areas, and mobs.

What do you look for in PUGs ? Team players. And that is exactly what the titles in the "Friend of the Luxon/Kurzick" lines are about. The lowest title in this line requires 250k donated to their guild, which could have been worth about 500k in jade or amber. Very selfless people and always welcome.

Also, some of the other titles have various ways of earning them without much skill, such as survivor, drunkard, etc. I've seen pictures of survivors with like 16 minutes game played. It's obviously a "work around" attained by a group helping them get the title. While quite an achievement, and probably something to be proud of, it doesn't show a player's ability, character, etc. which are what I look for in the players I respect the most.

How about your thoughts ?
lol...you mean grinder of many hours don't you? You dont' even need a team...the fastest faction gain is through the supply runs

That has to be the biggest load of bull crock i've ever read. There are people who PvE that are also good at PvP. Don't be so rash to judge people who PvE.

I would like to see a title like "Friend of life", meaning, died not at all, but still has tons of experience. Though easily abused, I've come to respect those people most, who respect their own life.

How many times did I read "let's suicide", only to gegroup in town again.
I find that simply disgusting.

Another title I'd like to see would be "Friend of the Hench" for doing missions and quests with hench only.

There could be some kind of XP based thing for each hench you had on your team to be stored in your profile. The more xp the hench get, the more you earn the title.

All the other titles mean nothing much to be, except maybe for Protector of Tyria (which is denied to my Cantha chars for no apparent reason but stupidity).

Most respected ones (no particular order):
- Friend of the Kurzick/Luxons: Shows dedication to your alliance and that you are a teamplayer
- Skill Hunter line: Shows tons of experience in the PvE environment and takes quite some dedication to get
- Cartographer (only 90% or above): Shows a lot of dedication, too. Player has to defeat every single mob in the game.
- Protector of Tyria/Cantha. Completion of every mission and bonus/Master Reward in the game takes both time and skill. Probably a good team player, too since some missions are very hard to get the Master Reward or even complete with henchies.
- Hero line: Takes PvP skill and experience to get
- GvG title line: dto.

Least respected ones:
- Survivor: Takes more luck than skill, since one bad moment will ruin the title even for a good player. Most likely a player who is willing to let others die to save their own butt. Because it does encourage that kind of behavior, this title shouldn't even be in the game and it's the only one that actually will HARM your chances to get into one of my groups.
- Drunkard: Shows nothing but the willingness to waste lots of money while letting your char idle for hours. Shows the ability to be afk a lot. Well, it's at least a fun title
- Treasure Hunter: Requires no skill at all, except willingness to waste money
- Wisdom Line: Depends on luck and good drops... nuff said

I don't mean to be rude. But you really have no idea what pve players can achieve. PVE and PVP are relatively proportionate in terms of achievement. Infact i would say that one or two PVE titles are probably the hardest to get, particularly the skill hunter or grand cartographer.

I dont respect the PvP account based titles at all...Because it really doesn't prove much.

I also have a distaste for The "Explorer/etc of Tyria/Cantha" titles...The first 1-2 levels specifically. This and the pvp account based titles are ALL YOU EVER SEE in outposts. Anyone that goes for 90%+ versions of this title I guess have something that they can be proud of though.

Drunkard shows wealth more than anything, beings its the most expensive title (you CAN do it free, but it takes Eions longer).

SKill Hunter..People are making way too big a deal about.. On one of my characters, through just normal gameplay (never capped an elite on him that I already had unlocked to my account before hand - no "grind" gettin of elites), already has almost 60 elites. How hard to you think it would be to grab another 40k or so worth of sigs and go Cap up all the duplicate elites I didnt bother getting on him becuase it'd be pointless other than this title? The seocnd title I could see meaning something - but noone i have seen has it yet because Assassin's Promise is AWOL.

Treasure Hunter is basically a farming title (except maybe th first level, which is normally getable through gameplay - but takes considerable time). It doesn't show wealth very well becuase only the extremly lucky "strike it rich" off a chest drop. And most farmers for this title use the cheapest easiest chests that count (but happen to drop only purples 90% of the time).

Wisdom title isn't very big on the first level...again..just through normal gameplay (and opening a good few chests in my day) I have like 60+ towards this title...Think about if I was in a large guild that let me ID several things different people had? Or if I chest farmed more? That makes the second and so on levels of this look less ominous.

Already ingame, the (in)famous Survivor-title?

Reason why I don't bother showing my Survivor-title on my mesmer. Having survivor doesn't equal with warping out, especially when my mesmer has died ~4 times after gaining that title. It still stays even if you die :P
